Good luck for the future to Hammers legend Tony Carr

I would like to thank Tony Carr for all his hard work and dedication during his time at West Ham United.

I would like to thank Tony Carr for all his hard work and dedication during his time at West Ham United. Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Mark Noble would not be where they are today or have had the wonderful careers they have enjoyed without his coaching.

It is sad to see him leave his role with the Academy but I hope he can enjoy his new role as club ambasidor. I was at his testimonial a few years ago and the fact that so many former players tuned out to play in the game and that so many fans paid to turn up was a fitting tribute to everything he has done for this club.

Tony has never sought the limelight or looked to become a first team manager somewhere else. I’m sure he has had offers in his time but it is refreshing to see such a humble and loyal person in football these days.

Terry Westley certainly has some huge boots to fill over the coming years and I hope he is the man to continue the club’s fine tradition of developing home grown players who go on to star for the first team.
