The Essex FA have today confirmed to Blowing Bubbles that the West Ham Ladies have been removed from the Essex County Cup competition.

A spokesperson for the association said: “The West Ham Ladies have been removed from the cup competition for this season. This has been communicated with the club and they have been made aware of the appeal process.”

Asked why the current cup holders were removed, the spokesperson added: “We are not making this information available to outside parties at this moment.”

However, manager West Ham Ladies Julian Dicks tweeted: “What’s the point in playing football, when you get kicked out of cup, just because you can’t fulfil a fixture on a Sunday. Shambles”

He later posted: “@EssexCountyFA your decision to kick @Westhamladies out of the Essex cup, who by the way are holders, is a absolute disgrace.”

Captain Stacey Little posted: “Truly believe someone out there is trying to ruin West Ham Ladies! Now kicked out of the @EssexCountyFA cup! Nice one thank you.

“Would they fixture a cup game & a league game on the same day in the MENS game! NOOOO corse they wouldn’t #justiceforwesthamladies
