I went to the Anniversary Games at the Olympic Stadium. It was the first time I’d been to the Stadium as I didn’t get any tickets when the Games were in London and have to say it is pretty breathtaking. I was in the upper tier of what will be the new East Stand and I had a good view of the pitch and it didn’t feel as far away as I feared it might be.
With the retractable seating in the lower tier I think most fans will be pleasantly surprised as to how the place looks in football mode. I wasn’t convinced about the move before but now I’m looking forward to it. It will be very sad when we leave Upton Park after so many years but we are moving to a world class stadium that can be the springboard to take the club to the next level.
You only have to look at what the City of Manchester Stadium did for Manchester City and if we can get the right investment we could join the elite clubs at the top of the Premier League.
