West Ham should take a gamble on Wilshere, but not at any price

It looks as though West Ham have got the majority of their summer transfer business out the way fairly early this season with the arrivals of Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic.

But one deal that could be set to go down to the wire is a move for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere. The 25-year-old has had a terrible injury record with the Gunners which is a real shame as he is clearly one of the most talented English players in his generation.

By all accounts, Arsene Wenger seems happy to let the player go again and, since the player has been a West Ham fan since boyhood, it is natural that we would be linked with him. But should we want him? With the likes of Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll in the squad the obvious answer is no.

However, if the deal is right then I believe he is worth a gamble. We could do with another midfielder and if he could stay fi t he could be an excellent signing for us. All I would say is that the deal would have to be financially right for us to take a gamble on him.

Arsenal need to remember the salt and pepper is firmly on our side of the table on this one. Over to you, Arsene.
