We are on our way to Wembley after being drawn against Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16 of the League Cup and it promises to be a fantastic occasion for us.
It’s always a spicy affair when we play them and I’m sure we’ll take a fair number to the national stadium — which should make it a fantastic atmosphere. I’m sure Slaven Bilic will play a very strong side for what is an important game for the club and hopefully the match will inspire the players to rise to the occasion.
When I was a player we always looked forward to the cup ties and if we can win the game and go through it could really boost our confidence after a difficult start to the season.
The fixture comes at a difficult time for Spurs — in the middle of games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid — so you wouldn’t be surprised if they made some changes or took their eye off the ball.
The competition is looked down upon by a lot of people but it is still the chance of a trophy and, even before the draw, I wanted to see us play a strong team and try and win it. It won’t be easy to go all the way but you do start dreaming.
