Lukasz Fabianski a major doubt for Manchester City clash

The Polish international is struggling with a groin problem

West Ham number one Lukasz Fabianski faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Manchester City.

The Polish international is struggling with a groin problem and is rated as only 50-50 to recover in time to feature this weekend.

He underwent an MRI scan on Monday and, while the issue is not thought to be serious, manager Manuel Pellegrini will wait until Wednesday to assess the Hammer of the Year’s condition.

Should the 34-year-old fail to make it summer signing Roberto will deputise against the Premier League champions.

Club captain Mark Noble is set to return to first team training this weekend but is unlikely to feature against City.

Noble suffered a dead leg against Fulham and has not trained since.
