West Ham have signed Goncalo Cardosa from Boavista for a fee believed to be £2.7million.
The 18-year-old Portuguese centre-back passed his medical and has agreed a five-year contract at London Stadium.
Cardosa played 15 times for his club last season and has eight caps for Portugal at Under-19s level.
“I am very excited and it’s a dream come true,†he told West Ham’s official website.

“I’m an aggressive player, a little bit different on the pitch than off it. I’m calm, and I like to have the ball and build the game from the back.
“I’m here to work and to help the team reach their goals.â€
He becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of striker Sebastien Haller, midfielder Pablo Fornals and goalkeepers Roberto and David Martin.
The Irons are expected to add a striker to their ranks before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
