West Ham United suffered a heart-breaking loss to Crystal Palace – a result that leaves them in serious relegation trouble.
Jordan Ayew’s 90th minute winner, which was a rare moment of quality on an afternoon to forget, sank the Irons who had earlier led through Robert Snodgrass’ opener.
Former Hammer Cheikhou Kouyate had leveled for the hosts before Ayew danced through the visitors defence to send Selhurst Park into raptures.
The Hammers have a difficult game against Leicester at London Stadium on Saturday before they host Bournemouth on New Year’s Day.
“We need to recover as soon as we can,” said manager Manuel Pellegrini, whose side have only won twice at home this season.
“We need to play our home game where we are not having good results – we have two games in a row there and I hope we start winning.”
