I know there are a fair few West Ham fans who are searching for positives ahead of the start of the season and with a lack of players being bought, I can understand where they are coming from.
But because it’s quite a quick turnaround from last season to this season, I think the positives will come from the fact we finished last season well and I’ll be hoping we can find this form again.
It felt like we ended up stumbling on something that work and helped keep us up last season so I’ll be keen to see how we line up at the start of this season.
I’ve not caught any of the pre-season games but seen that Haller has scored a few goals. Does this mean he’ll start up top and Antonio on the wing?
It has been disappointing that all the business we’ve done is selling players because we know from what we saw last season that we need to get new players in.
But if we start the season well, that will go a long way to appeasing fans and buy the club time – maybe to eye up targets for January, like we did with Bowen and Soucek.
With the players we have, if we have a good season, I think we will be inside the top 10.
I think it’ll be a struggle for us to break into the top seven – we’d have to play out of our skins to get in amongst the obvious and traditional candidates for these places.
