Opposition View: Chelsea aiming to stay ahead of the Hammers

West Ham V Chelsea couldn’t be lined up any better! With the two sitting beside one another at the top end of the table, Olivia Elliott caught up with Chelsea fan Callum Alderson for his views on the season so far.

Who would you consider the best player is for West Ham?

I would say that it’s a mix between, Rice and Soucek. They’re both so influential and have been important to the way that West Ham have played this season.

What do you think West Hams strengths and weaknesses are?

I would say counter-attacking plays with Cresswell and Coufal’s assists this season it’s been great to watch. For weaknesses I would say the squad depth of the hammers.

What do you see being a success this season?

Now we are through to the Champions League final I would say that’s a success in itself. However, winning it would be an even greater success not to mention winning the FA cup as well!

What player for Chelsea has surprised you most this season?

Antonio Rudiger has performed at a great level under Tuchel. He has become a solid start in the defence as well as a great sub to bring on.

Was sacking Lampard a good decision?

Personally, I would’ve liked to have seen him see out the season on the merit of him as a club legend. That was Lampard’s first managing a premier league team, so he lacked experience.

Are you happy with your new manager Thomas Tuchel?

Yes, very happy. Thomas Tuchel has come into the team and turned us into a great defensive team with the ability to counter and build up play a bit like Liverpool last season.

How did you feel that Chelsea was going to be a part of the Super League?

I wasn’t happy with Chelsea being a part of the Super League, as I didn’t see the need for it and the divide that it has created with the fans and the owners.

Who would be your ideal signing for next season?

Ideal signing would be, Declan Rice, as Jorginho doesn’t provide enough defensive cover as well as Kanté being as world class as he is, he is getting on a bit.

With all the rumours flying around about Tammy Abraham coming to West Ham would you want to keep him or let him go?

Let him go, but out on loan or with an opportunity to buy back. He is a great young attacker who would do well with West Ham.
