Ahead of out first Monday Night Football of this season, we catch up with Leicester City supporter Alex Loom. With both sides looking for a big start to the campaign, who is the more confident side?
How do you think your team will get on this season?
Leicester should be aiming for the top four just like we have been the last couple of seasons, but we always seem to miss out right at the last stretch because of injuries. This season I think we have enough depth in the squad to rifle up the big six and get into the top four.
What are your predictions as to where you will finish in the table this year?
Hopefully we can finish in the top four and win a cup competition as well this season.
Is there a new signing that opposing teams should watch out for?
Patson Daka. He plays as a striker and has proven that he is a prolific goal scorer with his time at Red Bull Salzburg. I’m excited to see how he gets on in the Premier League.
Are you pleased with your transfer window so far?
I am very pleased. We have made three signings so far in Ryan Bertrand, Patson Daka and Boubakary Soumare and I’m hoping for a couple more, especially a new centre back.
Looking back at last season Alex, can you sum up what it was like winning the FA cup for the first time in Leicester City history?
Winning the FA Cup was absolutely amazing to see. It showed that the underdog won, which is what the FA cup is all about. I was over the moon especially for my grandad as he has been to every FA cup final and for him to finally see Leicester win made the day even better.
Is there anything you think West Ham should improve on this season?
For West Ham to improve, you need to sign Jesse Lingard or someone like him. He was brilliant for you last season. Tighten up the defence as well as you were conceding quite a lot of goals especially when you were in the winning position.
Were you just as surprised as West Ham fans when we finished the season in 6th place?
I was surprised because West Ham have been struggling these past couple of years where you finished towards the bottom half of the table. I did think last season that you might get the Champions League which would have been great!
How much did you enjoy the Euros?
I loved the Euros this year. It was fantastic to see all the videos of fans celebrating every goal which is what football is all about. It was heartbreaking for us to lose on penalties.
As it’s Mark Noble’s last season do you have any vivid memories of him playing against your team?
My latest memory of Mark Noble was when he scored that volley from 30 yards out against us in 2018. He has been a great servant for West Ham and his leadership and commitment to the club is what everyone admires.
What are your score predictions for your team against us?
A 2-1 Leicester win.
