Opposition View: ‘Leicester really need to start climbing the table after our poor start’

We hear from Leicester City supporter James Jones

Gianluca Scamacca (WHU) at the West Ham United v Leicester City EPL match, at the London Stadium, London, UK on November 12, 2022.

Who’s a new player opposing teams should look out for?

James: Wout Faes is a new player opposing teams should be looking out for. He is a fearless defender who is not afraid to come up against any player.

You’ve let in 24 goals so far already this season, does your defence need a reshuffling?

James: I believe the back four we have at the moment consisting of Castagne, Amartey, Fous and Justin is a solid back four. That has been proven by the clean sheets they have kept together.

Why didn’t Brendan invest in the summer?

James: One of the reasons is the size of the squad we already have at the club. It’s pretty big and we didn’t have many outgoings during the summer so it was only going to get even bigger. Secondly the academy players at the club are being given more opportunity and hopefully they can succeed.

Rodgers in or Rodgers out?

James: At the moment I am Rodgers in. I believe he is one of the best managers we have had at the club for a while and I think it’s just a rough patch we have faced.

Is it time for an England recall for James Maddison?

James: Yes, he brings the spark the team seems to be missing at the moment. He can also play the proper number 10 role and has scored a few beauties so far already.

What are your thoughts on the season being postponed before Christmas for the World Cup to take place?

James: I think it’s going to cause chaos with all the clubs. The players who are heading to the World Cup risk coming back injured and it’s slightly concerning for clubs that are in other competitions such as Champions League.

What would be classed as a success this season?

James: Finishing inside the top 10 without a doubt. From our poor start to the season, we really need to start climbing the table and finishing in that top half.

It’s been four years since the tragic helicopter crash involving your owner. How special was he to you as a fan?

James: The owner was an absolutely brilliant man who would give us free things on away days and on his birthday. We could not have asked for a better owner of the club. We will always miss him.
