How excited are Luton fans to see their side play Premier League football?
Extremely excited, Premier League football for the first time for a club like us is a great achievement. Getting to see some of the best players in the world on a weekly basis at Kenilworth Road is what I’ve always dreamed about. We’ve all dreamed of the Premier League and were in League Two not too long ago. We’ve come a long way for sure.
How do you think Luton will cope with the transition to the premier league?
Honestly I expect us to struggle in the majority of away games, especially against the so-called ‘Big Six’. But at home, on our day, we can go toe-to-toe with anyone. The Premier League is obviously extremely fast-paced but Rob Edwards has done a fantastic job since taking over and I have full confidence in him.
Any new signings you are excited to see?
We haven’t really spent much in all honesty, only around 10 million or so, I’m definitely hoping for a few new signings before the end of the window. We’ve signed Tahith Chong from Birmingham, who was once at Man United, and Ryan Giles from Wolves who’s a brilliant young player and very good going forward.
How do you expect your season to go this year?
Our start could really set the tone for us. Our first fixture is Brighton away, which will be very difficult, followed by Chelsea away so it doesn’t get any easier. West Ham at home, Fulham away and then Wolves at home are three games we can definitely get some points from
How key has ex West Ham academy player Dan Potts been for Luton as a player and captain?
Dan’s been a great professional for us and a top player. I love him, he’s been with us for about eight years now and been influential in our road to the premier league
Reece Burke is another ex West Ham academy player at Luton. How impressed have you been with him playing in your back line?
Reece has recently signed a new deal and I’m very happy about it. He has always been pretty solid for us at the back when called upon but has sometimes struggled to get into the team at times. I’m hoping he starts a lot more games in the Premier League because he is definitely very talented.
Kenilworth Road holds 10,356. That’s the smallest capacity in the Premier League. Will this play to your advantage knowing the opposing teams fans won’t have a big allocation for your home games?
I’d like to think so but I’m not entirely sure to be honest. Our home record last season was pretty good but we did draw a few games. We have a low capacity, however, the ground can be loud and we can generate a good atmosphere which i’m sure we will in the Premier League
Score predictions for your game against West Ham?
West Ham are actually our first home game of the season now the Burnley game has been postponed to sort out the stadium so I expect the atmosphere to be absolutely buzzing as it’s the first. I’m hoping Luton can win and I fancy us. I’m going to predict 1-0 to us.
