Opposition View: ‘If Fulham can kick on, a top 10 finish is on the cards…’

We catch up with Fulham supporter Lisa Chandler ahead of our Premier League clash

West Ham United vs Fulham Barclays Premier League 01/09/2012 Andy Carroll and Jussi Jaaaskelainen combine to thwart Brede Hangeland of Fulham.

How do you think your season is going so far?

Lisa: I think we are doing well this season. I’m happy where we are in the mid-table scene and hopefully we can keep on progressing from there. We have the potential to catch teams above us like yourselves and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to take advantage of teams who are in the fall.

What are your thoughts on your manager?

Lisa: Marco Silva has got us a win at Old Trafford which hasn’t happened since 2003. I think that speaks volumes. You always go to Old Trafford hoping for a win and thinking that today is the day but it never actually is until recently.

Are you surprised Fulham managed to keep hold of Palhinha?

Lisa: I was so surprised. When I heard Rice left West Ham, I thought that’s it he’s off. Luckily we managed to dust away the Hammers and keep hold of an amazing player. Not too sure how much longer we will have him for as he is a fantastic football player.

Where do you see Fulham finishing at the table?

Lisa: I hope to be in the top 10. I think there’s teams above us who had a great start to the season but now are falling down the table. It’s realistic saying top 10 but I really do hope we push for top eight.

Some people seemed to have forgotten that Fulham actually signed Adam Traore. Why doesn’t he start for you?

Lisa: Ahh yes Traore. He’s only made seven appearances for the club and got injured at the end of last year so I will cut him some slack. He is a decent footballer but it takes time for players to adjust to playing with a different team and you could tell he wasn’t working well with the other players. I’m sure once he’s back after injury he will get used to it.

What was it like watching Fulham beating Manchester United away?

Lisa: It was amazing. We deserved to win. We had been knocking on their door since kick off. Finally found the back of the net then was unlucky to concede but luckily we picked up the winner in added time.

What would be a successful season for your team?

Lisa: I think anywhere in the top 10 of the table. Sadly we aren’t left in any competitions so won’t have a chance to bring silverware back home but it does mean that we can push ourselves to finish higher in the table.
