There is only one place to start for me, Abbi, what were your thoughts when Klopp said this would be his final season at Liverpool?
I was devastated. I know all good things must come to an end but I didn’t see this coming at all. I’m not sure where he is going to go next but he is welcome back at Liverpool anytime. He is a legend.
Who would you like as your next manager for next season?
I’d really like to see Xabi Alonso. I think he’s doing amazing things at Leverkusen and he used to play for us which is a big bonus as he knows exactly what the club is about. But these are big boots to fill and I’m not sure any manager would want to take on this role after Klopp’s success.
Liverpool won that League Cup final and until recently were still in the hunt for four trophies, did you really think you could win the Premier League?
Before the Everton defeat and West Ham draw, I honestly thought we could. But City they have done it before where they have pulled it back and I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that again.
What about the Europa League, you were favourites to win that?
Our pathway to the final looked a lot more hopeful than I anticipated. Avoiding the likes of Milan and Roma if we progressed to the semis was great and did give me confidence we could go the whole way. We were the favourites to win it but then got dumped out by Atalanta.
It could have been a Liverpool/West Ham final?
That would have been brilliant. It would have been filled with West Ham and Liverpool fans. Plus loads of Liverpool fans would have gone as it would have been a final goodbye to Klopp. It would have been incredible to see the streets of Dublin filled with Liverpool fans.
And of course, you got knocked out of the FA Cup by rivals Manchester United?
That was a rough weekend. I’m still not over it. I can handle being knocked out of the cup but just not to Manchester United. I hate them but we had a shocker against them.
Jordan Henderson left Liverpool and moved to the Saudi league and now he is playing for Ajax. What were your thoughts on that?
It was a bit of a weird one. I heard his family couldn’t get settled out there so wanted to come back to somewhere closer to home which is completely understandable and I think he should’ve done that to start with. I hope he is enjoying himself at Ajax and we still love him here.
