The Iraola Philosophy: How do you feel about your side’s performance so far this season?
Steve: I’ve been fairly pleased with the performances under Iraola so far. The team has shown more intensity and desire to press high up the pitch. The results have been mixed, but you can see the positive signs of his philosophy starting to take shape. We’re more organised, and I’m hopeful the team will gel as the season progresses.
The Kluivert Factor: Who has been the standout player for you this season, and why?
Steve: Justin Kluivert is our top scorer this season with 12 goals. He really attacks and looks to score or create chances. Without him we wouldn’t be as high as we are now.
Tactical Shifts and Nervy Moments: What do you think about your style of play under the current manager, are you enjoying the football being played?
Steve: Yes, I definitely think our playing style under Iraola is a shift compared to previous managers. We’re a lot more aggressive in pressing high up the pitch, and we’re trying to play out from the back more, which sometimes works, but it can lead to a few nervy moments.
January Business and Squad Depth: Do you think the club strengthened enough for the second half of the season during the January transfer window?
Steve: I think we’ve strengthened well, but I still have concerns about our depth. The new signings have added quality, but we need a bit more consistency from the bench. If we face injuries to key players, we might struggle, but on paper, we should have enough to stay competitive in the Premier League.
Giant Killing at Old Trafford: Bournemouth has had some notable matches this season. Which game stood out most to you?
Steve: Beating Manchester United away 3-0. That was unbelievable. We were the underdogs going into that game. Granted United aren’t the team they used to be but still nothing beats beating them at old Trafford.
Defensive Resilience vs. Shaky Moments: What are your thoughts on Bournemouth’s defensive record this season?
Steve: We’ve definitely had some ups and downs defensively this season. The defence has been shaky at times, with some soft goals conceded, especially in key moments. However, we’ve also shown resilience and been tough to break down in some games. Our goal difference is 13 which is decent and only conceded 34 which I would say is amazing.
But do you think it’s an area that needs improvement?
Steve: Just being able to hold onto leads and keep clean sheets. It’s frustrating at times where we have the game in the palm of our hands and let silly little errors take it away from us which results in losing three points.
The Race for European Football: You’re still in the mix for qualifying for European football though. Do you think you will?
Steve: It’s still a tight race for Europe, but I believe we’ve got a real shot. We’ve been competitive and picked up some key wins against top teams. I’m cautiously optimistic, but it will depend on how we handle the tough matches coming up. We’ve got the talent, but we’ll need to keep our form consistent and not slip up in the latter half of the season.
