Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed my Sunday evening after our victory at the City Ground against Forest. I was listening to the game and I was just waiting for Forest to score one and for us to collapse.
Others have insisted it was a brilliant performance by West Ham, but I think on another day, against more confident opposition, we lose that game.
The Premier League Gauntlet: Six Games, Six Points?
Between now and the end of October, we play Spurs, Palace, and Brentford at home, and Everton, Arsenal and Leeds away. I know all Premier League games are hard but I can’t see us getting much out of these six games.
But if we can get six points, we’ll be on nine points from nine games which will keep us away from the bottom.
Potter’s Puzzle: Tactics and Goalkeeping Choices
It is, however, going to be interesting to see how Potter approaches these games, especially at home. He switched from three centre backs to a flat four at Forest with AWB making way for KWP but will Potter continue to rotate and change things, or stick with a winning formation and line-up?
I’m also not totally convinced by Hermansen in goal. I felt he was at fault for two of the Sunderland goals on the opening day and against Chelsea, it was like he wasn’t there, such was his lack of dominance. Having said that, should Potter have even played him in these two games? Or given him time to settle in and work with the defence?
And what now for Areola? After seemingly getting his chance last season and Fab leaving this summer, he’s now back to number two. Will we see him leave come January?
