How do you feel about Brighton’s identity evolving after the managerial changes over the last couple of seasons?
Honestly, we’ve handled it better than anyone expected. The core philosophy is still there smart recruitment, brave football but Hürzeler has brought more structure and control.
Sitting 5th with the youngest manager in the league… how high do you think Hürzeler can take Brighton this season?
Aiming for the European spots
Top six is absolutely realistic. If injuries stay kind, even a top-four push isn’t impossible with the way we’re playing.
Do the club need to reinvest more aggressively to stay in the top-half conversation?
A bit, yeah. The model still works, but if we want to stay ahead of everyone else copying us, we’ll need a couple more proven starters to complement the young talent.
What’s been the biggest tactical shift you’ve noticed this season?
Tactical control and disciplined pressing
We’re calmer in possession fewer chaotic transitions, more structured pressing. The midfield, especially Wieffer and Baleba, feels more disciplined.
Which player would be the biggest loss if they left in January?
Verbruggen, easily. A top-class keeper sets the foundation, and he saves us every single week.
What’s the one thing Brighton MUST fix to push for Europe again?
The need for clinical finishing
Finishing. We create enough, but we still don’t put teams away Welbeck, Tzimas and Gruda need more help up top.
Do you think Kostoulas will get minutes this season, or should Brighton ease him in like they’ve done with other young talents?
Ease him in gently. He’s got huge potential, but at 18 and coming from abroad, there’s no rush Brighton’s track record with young forwards speaks for itself.
What’s the one thing stopping Brighton from cementing themselves as a permanent top-six side?
Squad depth and injury concerns
Squad depth. The first XI can compete with anyone, but once injuries hit, the drop-off is big.
