Planning for the Summer Break
We’re getting towards the business end of the football season, so are looking at ways of maintaining our community support through the summer months. The Club has been in touch to look at possible support and we’re currently investigating options. In previous summers we’ve had supportive videos from the players and staff to use on our socials, and hopefully this will again be the case this summer.
Raising Awareness at the Stadium Store
Whilst maintaining our links with the Club, we were invited to the Easter week ‘meet the players’ event at the Stadium Store which gives us the chance to chat about what we do with supporters who for whatever reason don’t pass by our matchday collection points, and to explain how their support helps so many.
Clothing Donations and International Aid
A few months ago The Foundry helped us out by storing a large quantity of donated clothes. We’ve now had space at our depot to receive these, and will be sizing them over the coming weeks, to go out to various community groups and homeless centres. We’ll also be supplying another pallet-load of new clothes to our contacts in St. Vincent and The Grenadines, where they are still recovering from hurricane damage. Our supporters Umbro have again recently delivered several boxes of new sports clothing to us.
Answering the Call from Colchester Foodbank
We recently watched an appeal on local TV news by Colchester Foodbank, who had seen a large drop in donations and were struggling to support the local community. Fortunately we were able to supply them with a £2,000 food pallet the following week. We’re in regular contact with our foodbanks and as usual will be delivering to more foodbanks over the coming weeks.
How You Can Help on Matchdays
We are always very grateful for any of the donations we receive. If anyone wishes to give us a hand on matchday just drop by for a chat at our matchday collection point. We’re there two hours before every home game.
