Ludo Miklosko’s sudden passing just as we went to press has hit everyone across the West Ham family right in the heart. While we will be dedicating a comprehensive tribute to the great man in our October issue, we simply could not send this September edition to print without honouring one of the most beloved figures to ever grace the Boleyn Ground.
A Titan Between the Posts at the Boleyn Ground
Arriving in East London in 1990, Ludo quickly established himself as a titan between the posts. Towering, brave, and wonderfully agile, he made 374 appearances over eight memorable years in claret and blue, anchoring our defence during an era of tremendous transition. Beyond his remarkable reflexes, it was his warmth, humble nature, and absolute devotion to the club that forged an unbreakable bond with the supporters. No fan who lived through the nineties will ever forget the terraces erupting to his iconic chant.
Folklore Performance Against Manchester United and Coaching Legacy
His legendary performance on the final day of the 1994/95 season against Manchester United – single-handedly denying them the title with a series of world-class saves – remains etched into West Ham folklore forever. Even after his playing days ended, his dedication returned as he passed on his immense knowledge to the next generation as the club’s goalkeeping coach.
Forever a Hammer
Ludo represented everything that makes West Ham United special: passion, loyalty, and an unshakeable connection to the fans. In an era where the game moves faster than ever, his legacy stands as a timeless reminder of true club loyalty. Rest in peace, Ludo. You will forever remain a Hammer.
